I seriously think that anyone who wants to save money for real must get something like BPI Direct Save Up! 🙂
This week, I was reading Bo Sanchez’s book (8 Secrets of the Truly Rich) and I was also reflecting on the many things I have read from Pinoy Money Talk forum all these years. I mean, investing in mutual funds are no longer alien ideas to me since college days. But I always get stumped with the issue of saving money. I don’t get to invest a lot because I end up spending the money that was meant to be invested. I’m still in the rat race; sorry to disappoint people who think otherwise.
Still in the rat race now, but not for long! Thanks to BPI, which just made my personal finance goals all so much easier. And mind you, they did not pay me to write this. I just want to share you a positive customer experience that I think deserves public recognition.
I first heard of BPI’s Direct Save Up account (the account that automatically deducts a certain amount off your BPI ATM main card) when I was researching about it in the office one day. I was so happy, since I had the fortune of having a BPI payroll account that I could easily use as the main source account for the automated deductions.
What’s more interesting about BPI’s Save Up is that it comes with a free Philam Life Insurance policy amounting to five times the amount of money you have deposited to your Save Up account. So if you saved up 5,000, you have accident or death insurance of 25,000. Ain’t that grand? You don’t need to apply or pay a separate premium because it’s already included in your savings account package!
I had two goals when I got my job: get insured and save 20% off my paycheck each cutoff. I had this on my 43things list for quite some time already, and I am just so happy that I have one more goal accomplished, thanks to BPI!
I did not have to go anywhere else, since BPI has it both covered for me already with this wonderful initiative of theirs. It’s quite unique.
And guess what I saw in Trinoma two weeks ago? There’s some members of the BPI staff with a booth there, encouraging people to save money in a time of spending everything. I find that wonderful because it reminds people (mall goers, specifically) of their “plans” to save more money. It’s like, BPI already brought themselves in the mall so that people can more easily open a savings account.
Going back to my BPI Save Up account, it’s called Save Up for a reason. It will not give you a Passbook or ATM card for easy withdrawals. It will also not allow you to withdraw over ATM machines or over the counter. It will just give you an Info Card that will also serve as proof of your free insurance from Philam Life.
Don’t be afraid that the money will be imprisoned. You can still withdraw the money, but it will have to be transferred back to your main bank account. You cannot directly withdraw it from the Save Up account. For one, the Save Up account is made as a receptacle that will encourage you to save more money out of your paycheck. So it does not make spending your hard earned money just as easily as you swipe your usual debit or credit card.
That’s already cool. But I even have more good news for aspiring saving employees like me…
I inquired a lot through email about the BPI features. And I got comprehensive, friendly and personalized answers from BPI’s customer service representatives. I made a phone call early this morning and my account was all setup and ready without me having to call them twice for the same concern!
I can’t say the same for other banks. Unionbank EON gave me hell because of a stupid misdirected letter a month ago. I cried because they made getting my money from a US client so difficult. The person I talked to there tried her very best to fix my problem, but it just was not as excellent as BPI, which got things right the first time.
I just found the bank that I can trust, in terms of reliability and genuine customer care. I have a friend who is already a premium BPI customer. He actually has his own personalized BPI assistant who caters to his banking needs immediately.
Yes, they can do that to their VIP’s. But even if you are not yet at that VIP level, you will still feel that they value you and will address your needs as quickly as they possibly can. They treat you like a human being. And if your goal is to save more cash and curb that spending tendencies, they possess the very instrument that will help you achieve it.
Thanks so much BPI Direct Save Up! I want all my friends to know about you so that they, too, will be encouraged to open an account and save more from their paychecks for eventual financial freedom!
Oh, and one more thing, you can also now order McDonalds from your menu! Menu on the computer, I mean. All it will require of you is an online account at BPI Express Online and other details can be found in My BPI Mag.
